Forbidden Actions

The following is a partial list of actions forbidden based on the above mentioned status:
Refuse to rent housing

• Make housing unavailable
• Deny a dwelling
• Set different terms, conditions or privileges for rental of a dwelling
• Provide different housing services or facilities
• Falsely deny that housing is available for inspection or rental
• Deny anyone access to or membership in a facility or service related to the rental of housing 

Filing a Complaint

If you believe you have been the victim of discrimination and wish to file a complaint, you have a few options to consider:

• You may file a complaint with the City of Lafayette Human Relations Commission.
• You may file a complaint with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.
• You may file a complaint with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
